What does YAML to XML do?

YAML to XML turns YAML into well-formed XML with a single root element. Paste your data, press Convert, then copy the result or download it as a file.

What you can use

YAML indented with spaces (YAML does not allow tabs). Lists start with “- ” and pairs are written “key: value”.

How to use YAML to XML

  1. Step 1

Paste your YAML into the input box, or use “Load example” to see the expected shape.

  2. Step 2

Press Convert. If the input isn’t valid, an error message tells you what is wrong and where.

  3. Step 3

Copy the XML output or download it as a file.

Good to know

  • Indentation is the structure in YAML: a single tab or one space out of line changes the meaning. If something looks wrong, check the indentation first.
  • XML element names can’t start with a digit or contain spaces, so keys like “2024” or “first name” may need renaming first.
  • Big inputs (several MB) work, but the browser may pause for a moment while it converts.

Your privacy

Everything happens in this browser tab: what you paste is converted by JavaScript on your device and never sent to our server. Closing the tab clears it. Even so, don’t paste live passwords, API keys or customer records into any website.

Frequently asked questions

Is YAML to XML free?

Yes. YAML to XML is completely free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limit.

Is the data I paste sent to a server?

No. Conversion runs in JavaScript inside this browser tab and nothing you paste is sent or stored. Even so, avoid pasting live passwords, API keys or private customer data into any website.

Why do I get an error?

Almost always the input isn’t quite valid: a missing comma or quote in JSON, an unclosed tag in XML, or a tab in YAML. The error message shows where parsing stopped — fix that spot, or press “Load example” to compare with input that works.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. It works in any modern browser on Android, iPhone, tablets and computers — nothing to install.
