YAML to CSV
Turn YAML into a CSV file for Excel or Google Sheets.
- Free
- No sign-up
- Runs in your browser
Lists of records become rows; nested values become dot-named columns (address.city, tags.0).
Converted output will appear here.
What does YAML to CSV do?
YAML to CSV turns YAML into CSV with a header row and one line per record — it opens directly in Excel or Google Sheets. Paste your data, press Convert, then copy the result or download it as a file.
It works best on a list of similar records: each record becomes one row and each field becomes a column.
What you can use
YAML indented with spaces (YAML does not allow tabs). Lists start with “- ” and pairs are written “key: value”.
Example
Input
- name: Asha city: Pune - name: Ben city: Leeds
Output
name,city Asha,Pune Ben,Leeds
Each list item becomes a row.
How to use YAML to CSV
- Step 1
Paste your YAML into the input box, or use “Load example” to see the expected shape.
- Step 2
Press Convert. If the input isn’t valid, an error message tells you what is wrong and where.
- Step 3
Copy the CSV output or download it as a file.
Good to know
- Indentation is the structure in YAML: a single tab or one space out of line changes the meaning. If something looks wrong, check the indentation first.
- Tables are flat. Nested objects and lists don’t map neatly to columns, so for the cleanest output keep each record one level deep.
- Values containing commas, quotes or line breaks are wrapped in double quotes, which is what Excel and Google Sheets expect.
- Big inputs (several MB) work, but the browser may pause for a moment while it converts.
Your privacy
Everything happens in this browser tab: what you paste is converted by JavaScript on your device and never sent to our server. Closing the tab clears it. Even so, don’t paste live passwords, API keys or customer records into any website.

Is YAML to CSV free?
Yes. YAML to CSV is completely free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limit.
Is the data I paste sent to a server?
No. Conversion runs in JavaScript inside this browser tab and nothing you paste is sent or stored. Even so, avoid pasting live passwords, API keys or private customer data into any website.
Why do I get an error?
Almost always the input isn’t quite valid: a missing comma or quote in JSON, an unclosed tag in XML, or a tab in YAML. The error message shows where parsing stopped — fix that spot, or press “Load example” to compare with input that works.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. It works in any modern browser on Android, iPhone, tablets and computers — nothing to install.
