What does JSON to Excel do?
JSON to Excel turns JSON into rows and columns ready for a spreadsheet, one row per record. Paste your data, press Convert, then copy the result or download it as a file.
It works best on a list of similar records: each record becomes one row and each field becomes a column.
What you can use
Valid JSON: an object {…} or, for table-style output, an array of objects [{…}, {…}]. Keys and text values need double quotes, and trailing commas are not allowed.
Example
Input
[
{ "name": "Asha", "city": "Pune" },
{ "name": "Ben", "city": "Leeds" }
]Output
name,city Asha,Pune Ben,Leeds
Each object becomes a spreadsheet row; the keys become column headings.
How to use JSON to Excel
- Step 1
Paste your JSON into the input box, or use “Load example” to see the expected shape.
- Step 2
Press Convert. If the input isn’t valid, an error message tells you what is wrong and where.
- Step 3
Copy the Excel output or download it as a file.
Good to know
- Most errors are a missing comma, a trailing comma after the last item, or single quotes instead of double quotes. The error message points to where parsing stopped.
- Tables are flat. Nested objects and lists don’t map neatly to columns, so for the cleanest output keep each record one level deep.
- Big inputs (several MB) work, but the browser may pause for a moment while it converts.
Your privacy
Everything happens in this browser tab: what you paste is converted by JavaScript on your device and never sent to our server. Closing the tab clears it. Even so, don’t paste live passwords, API keys or customer records into any website.

Is JSON to Excel free?
Yes. JSON to Excel is completely free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limit.
Is the data I paste sent to a server?
No. Conversion runs in JavaScript inside this browser tab and nothing you paste is sent or stored. Even so, avoid pasting live passwords, API keys or private customer data into any website.
Why do I get an error?
Almost always the input isn’t quite valid: a missing comma or quote in JSON, an unclosed tag in XML, or a tab in YAML. The error message shows where parsing stopped — fix that spot, or press “Load example” to compare with input that works.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. It works in any modern browser on Android, iPhone, tablets and computers — nothing to install.
